He Trusted the Father When He Didn't Know the Answer

He Trusted the Father When He Didn't Know the Answer

Jesus said, "Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but He does only what He sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does."

John 5:19

You May Not Know This About Jesus

Jesus

Bill Perkins

Jesus didn't cling to divine privilege.
He let go.
He didn't pretend to be human — He became human.

And in doing so,
He chose not to know everything.
Not because He lacked power,
but because He trusted the Father
more than He trusted answers.

His unknowing wasn't weakness.
It was worship.

Where am I still trying to solve
what Jesus invites me to surrender —
and how might trust look
more like letting go
than figuring out?

You may not know this about Jesus:
He rested in the Father’s knowing
when His own ran out.

I treat uncertainty like a threat.
I scramble for clarity, control, resolution.
But Jesus shows me another way:
to rest in the Father's knowing
when mine runs out.

Jesus, You didn't demand answers.
You trusted the Father.
Teach me to do the same.
Where I grasp for certainty,
give me peace.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
