Christ's Claim to Deity

"You will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven." (Mark 14:62)

Jesus' Unequivocal Claim to Be God

"You will see the Son of Man
seated at the right hand of Power
and coming on the clouds of heaven." (Mark 14:62)

You may not know this about Jesus,
but He didn't leave His identity to guesswork.

When everything was on the line-
when silence would have saved His life-
He spoke with a clarity His accusers could not miss.

At His trial, the high priest demanded,
"Tell us if You are the Messiah, the Son of God." (Matthew 26:63)

And Jesus answered with words drawn from the deepest wells
of Israel's Scriptures:

"You will see the Son of Man
seated at the right hand of Power
and coming on the clouds of heaven."
(Matthew 26:64; Mark 14:62)

To modern ears, that may sound poetic.
To the Sanhedrin, it was unmistakable.

Jesus was invoking Daniel 7:13-14,
where the "Son of Man" rides the clouds-
something only God does
(Deuteronomy 33:26; Psalm 68:4).

He was invoking Psalm 110:1,
where the Messiah shares God's throne-
something no prophet or angel ever claimed.

And here's the question that cuts through every modern objection:

Who is more qualified to interpret Jesus' words-
the men who lived inside the world of Daniel and the Psalms,
or a scholar reading translations two thousand years later?

The high priest didn't need a commentary.
He didn't need a debate.
He tore his robes and declared,
"You have heard the blasphemy!"
(Mark 14:63-64)

That reaction is the interpretation.

If Jesus were merely claiming to be a prophet,
they would have corrected Him.

If He were speaking metaphorically,
they would have dismissed Him.

But they condemned Him
because they understood Him.

Jesus wasn't hinting.
He wasn't speaking in riddles.
He was declaring what only God can declare:

He is the One who reigns,
the One who judges,
the One who comes with the clouds.

And here is the wonder:

The One who claimed the throne
also carried the cross.

The One who shared the Father's glory
also shared our suffering.

The One condemned for claiming to be God
is the same One who came to save us.

Jesus didn't die for being misunderstood.
He died because He told the truth-
He claimed to be God.
