Parables of Matthew 13 · Part 1

Parabolē

Parabolē means placing one thing beside another. Jesus sets a familiar picture beside a hidden Kingdom truth, opening eyes and ears to see the King more clearly.

Lyrics

Open my eyes to see the Kingdom.

Open my eyes to see the King.

Open my ears to hear His voice.

Open my heart to rise and sing.

We rise and sing — the King is here.

The King is here, and still He’s speaking,

With a thunderous voice — and nations bow.

Yet mercy He breathes, laying glory aside,

To walk on our streets where the broken abide.

He whispers a mystery we’re desperate to seek.

Parabolē

a gentle throw,

A truth laid softly at my feet.

The known beside the unknown placed,

Until the hidden becomes sweet.

Parabolē — the Kingdom’s key,

Unlocking truth for those who see.

Some only hear a simple story,

A parabolē they never see.

Some let the meaning slip away.

But those who hunger for His wisdom

Receive the secrets He conveys.

He takes the common things around us

And throws them by the Kingdom’s side,

Until the truth that once was hidden

Stands open, clear, and glorified.

Mysteries hidden from the fathers,

Truth Abraham longed to see.

What Moses glimpsed in Sinai’s fire

Became a song in David’s key.

They longed for what was coming,

But never heard the mysteries sing.

Open my eyes to see the Kingdom.

Open my eyes to see the King.

Open my ears to hear His voice.

Open my heart to rise and sing.

Mysteries hidden from the fathers,

Truth Abraham longed to see.

What Moses glimpsed in Sinai’s fire

Became a song in David’s key.

They longed for what was coming,

But never heard the mysteries sing.

Open my eyes to see the Kingdom.

Open my eyes to see the King.

Open my ears to hear His voice.

Open my heart to rise and sing.

I lift my praise — the King is here.

I lift my praise — the King is here.

I lift my praise — the King is here.

Open my heart to rise and sing —

I lift my praise, the King is here.
