Yours Is the Power

Power (dunamis) is God’s ability—
to act,
to create,
to command,
to sustain,
to accomplish all He wills.

Dunamis is not endurance.
Dunamis is not effort.
Dunamis is ability.

Consider God’s power in creation.
On a clear night,
the human eye can see
about 5,000 stars total—
only half the sky at once,
so about 2,500 at any moment.

But many of the “stars” we see
are not stars at all.
They are galaxies.
The faint smudge of Andromeda
is a trillion stars.
The Milky Way band
is 100–400 billion stars
seen from the inside.

And you may not know this
about Jesus:
every one of those stars
was spoken into existence by Him.

John says,
“All things were made through Him.” Jn 1:3
Paul says,
“By Him all things were created.” Col 1:16
Hebrews says,
“Through Him God made the universe.” Heb 1:2

Creation is vast—
it is immeasurable.
And this is only what we can see
and estimate.
A single light year
is 5.88 trillion miles.
Two trillion galaxies
fill the observable cosmos.

Creation is not small.
Creation is not silent.
Creation is the power of God
stretched across distances
our minds cannot hold.

This power is not distant.
It is the power that enables
every request in this prayer.

It is the power that makes it possible
to do His will on earth
as it is in heaven.

It is the power that provides
our daily bread.

It is the power that enables us
to forgive as He has forgiven us.

It is the power that protects us
from temptation.

It is the power that guards us
from the evil one.

Every request in this prayer
rests on the infinite power of God.
“For Yours is the power.”

Where do I need to trust
the power of God
in the places I cannot carry myself?

I can pray every line of this prayer
because the power of God
stands behind every word.

Father, teach me to trust Your power.
The power that formed creation.
The power that raised Your Son.
The power that carries my life.
For Yours is the power.
