Hallowed Be Your Name

When Jesus teaches us to pray this way,
He is inviting us
to see the Father as holy,
to treat His name
as sacred,
as weighty,
as worthy.

“Hallowed” means set apart.
It means lifted above every other name.
It means His character
is honored in my life.
It means His reputation
is protected by my choices.
It means His holiness
shapes the way I live.

What’s crucial to remember is that:
Jesus Himself is the only One
who perfectly hallows the Father’s name.

“I have manifested Your name.” Jn 17:6
“I glorified You on earth.” Jn 17:4
“Father, glorify Your name.” Jn 12:28

Jesus is the only human
who has ever honored the Father’s name
with perfect obedience,
perfect trust,
perfect love,
perfect holiness.

So when I pray,
“Hallowed be Your name,”
I am asking the Father
to make His name holy in me
the way it is holy in Jesus.

I am asking His character
to shape my character.
I am asking His holiness
to shape my desires.
I am asking His reputation
to shape my choices.
I am asking His worth
to reorder my priorities.

And I am asking
that His name be honored
in my thoughts,
in my words,
in my habits,
in my relationships,
in my decisions,
in the hidden places
no one else sees.

Where in my life
does the Father’s name
need to be honored?

You may not know this about Jesus—
“Hallowed be Your name”
is not a recited phrase.
It is a request:
Father, let Your name be seen in me.
Let Your name be treasured in me.
Let Your name be holy in me
as it is holy in heaven.

Father, teach me to honor Your name.
Let Your holiness shape my heart.
Let Your worth shape my desires.
Let Your name be hallowed in me today.
