A Dreamer Saved Jesus' Life

"He arose and took the child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt." —Matthew 2:14

No waiting for the alarm.
No packing the house.
No warning to neighbors.
No delay—birds escaping the hunter's net.

Why such urgency?
Because danger was closing in.
Herod was searching for the child to kill Him.

Jesus had been born in Bethlehem,
presented at the temple in Jerusalem at forty days,
and then His family returned to Nazareth.

It was there, in a house,
that the magi found Him—
not an infant in a manger,
but a boy already growing.

Their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh
would sustain the family for what came next.

The star—the Shekinah glory—
guided the magi to the exact place.
And when they departed,
Joseph received another dream:
"Arise, take the child and His mother, flee to Egypt…"

He obeyed immediately,
in the dark,
before dawn.

Joseph's life was marked by four dreams.
Each came at a turning point.
Each demanded obedience.
Each preserved God's plan.

Joseph never speaks in Scripture.
Not one recorded word.
His character is revealed entirely through action—
quiet, decisive,
faithful.

You may not know this about Jesus:
a dreamer saved His life.
And that, too, is part of the Christmas story—
God's Son protected in the night
so He could bring light.
