I’m standing on a canyon edge, looking to the other side

The chasm is as wide as all the years I cried

The spirit who possessed my son beat him day and night

He threw him into fire, and fought me for his life

Then I heard the Master was coming down the hill

I led my son by the hand—we walked into the crowd

I pleaded with the twelve—“Please free my son.”

They vainly spoke an empty prayer—thunder without rain

Every hypocrite mocked their shame and they mocked my pain

As I stared into the canyon, I instantly heard the cry

A sudden wind blew by and the choir sang, “It is Him.”

He didn’t ask for perfect faith

He took my seed and built a bridge that hour

So I cry out from the empty space of everything I need:

The heavy crowd split wide as the people ran as one

They rushed to meet the Master on the mountain side that day

I fell down to my knees right at His holy feet

Tears became the only prayer my broken voice could find

With a single mighty word, He cast the evil out

My boy stood up walking where shadows used to tread
