Your Kingdom Come
“Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in heaven.”
— Matthew 6:10
You May Not Know This About Jesus
Prayer
Jesus isn’t explaining
everything about the kingdom.
He’s not explaining
everything about the will of God.
He is explaining
that the kingdom comes
where the Father’s will
is carried out on earth
as it is carried out in heaven.
The kingdom is the realm
where the command of the King is obeyed.
Where the reign of the King is honored.
Where the desire of the King in heaven
is the desire of His royal ones on earth.
This is the connection many miss.
And you may not know this about Jesus—
He not only models heaven,
He brings heaven to earth through us.
Heaven is heaven
because the Father’s will
is expressed there.
Fully.
Joyfully.
Immediately.
Without resistance.
Without hesitation.
And the kingdom comes
where the earth conforms
to the King’s will in heaven.
This means the petition
does not divide into two requests.
It is one movement.
“Your kingdom come”
is fulfilled through
“Your will be done.”
The kingdom is present now,
because the King reigns.
The kingdom is within us,
because His rule shapes our desires.
And the kingdom is future,
because the King will return
and restore all things.
But the petition itself
is focused on one truth:
the kingdom is seen
where the will of the King is obeyed.
Obedience is not private.
Obedience is kingdom expression.
When the Father’s will is done in my life,
His kingdom becomes visible in my life.
When His will shapes my choices,
His reign is revealed.
When His will governs my desires,
His kingdom is near.
When His will directs my relationships,
His kingdom is present.
“On earth as in heaven”
is not poetic language.
It is the pattern.
It is the measure.
It is the comparison.
Earth is meant to mirror heaven
in the way it responds
to the Father’s will.
Heaven obeys perfectly
because heaven is fully under the King’s rule.
Earth becomes like heaven
when the King’s will is done here
the way it is done there.
The petition is simple:
Father,
let Your will be done in me
the way it is done in heaven—
so Your kingdom can be seen in me
the way it is seen in heaven.
Pass it on
