Finders Losers, Losers Keepers

"Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth."
Matthew 5:5

The world grabs.
Yet God blesses us when we don't.

The meek are
the yielded,
the steady,
the strong who refuse to force their own way.

They are war horses
who could charge
but wait for the King's command
and the squeeze of the Rider's legs.

They choose quiet obedience
when they want to seize,
push,
defend,
or demand.

They yield to the Father's direction
knowing it's better than their own.

You may not know this about Jesus,
but He is meekness-
power restrained,
power under the Father's direction.

He displayed restrained power in Gethsemane
when He spoke the Name-"I AM"-
and a cohort of soldiers-three to six hundred men-
recoiled and fell to the ground (John 18:6).

His power was restrained
when He told Peter He could summon
twelve legions of angels (Matthew 26:53).

Meekness is Jesus, with all that power,
allowing Himself to be arrested
and bound without resistance.

Meekness is power restrained
when Jesus restored
the ear of Malchus, the servant of the high priest,
after Peter sliced it off with a sword.

Meekness is Jesus turning the other cheek
when struck by the temple guard (John 18:22-23),
answering with truth
instead of retaliation.

And here is the reversal:
the people who refuse to seize the earth
are the ones who receive it.
Finders losers.
Losers keepers.
Seizers lose.
Yielders gain.
Not just on earth,
but in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Where am I still seizing
instead of yielding to the Father's direction.

What This Means to Me
Meekness means letting the King set the pace.
Not charging ahead,
not forcing outcomes,
but waiting for His command
and moving only at His touch.

Father, make me meek like war horses
who wait for Your command
and move only at Your touch.
Train my strength to trust You.
