Jesus Final Four Miracles

"Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee." (Jn 21:1)

Jesus hadn't appeared in over a week.

So Peter said, "I'm going fishing." (Jn 21:3)
Six others went with him.
All night they fished.
All night their net stayed empty.

Then at dawn-
a voice from the shore.

"Cast the net on the right side of the boat,
and you will find some." (Jn 21:6)

They cast.
And caught so many fish
they couldn't pull them
into the boat.

Too heavy to lift.
Too wonderful to explain.

And then, in a moment,
John understood.

"It is the Lord," he said. (Jn 21:7)

Peter-who had already seen the risen Jesus
in a private meeting (Lu 24:34; 1 Co 15:5)-
didn't hesitate.

The man who once stepped out of a boat
and walked on water to Jesus (Mt 14:28-29),
now dives from a boat
and swims to Jesus. (Jn 21:7)

The others drag the miracle behind the boat.
But when they reach the shallows,
it's Peter who wades back out,
climbs in,
and hauls the net the final distance to shore. (Jn 21:11)

Heart restored.
Strength restored.
Joy restored.

When they step on shore,
the disciples see three quiet miracles
already waiting for them:

A charcoal fire.
Broiled fish.
Baked bread. (Jn 21:9)

The same kind of fire
that burned on the night of Peter's denial (Jn 18:18)-
but this one smells of breakfast,
not betrayal.

Not fear.
Not failure.
But mercy.
Friendship.
Love.

That first charcoal fire
revealed Peter's wound.
The second reveals Jesus healing it.

And John uses the same word for both fires:
anthrakia.

And yet, there are questions here
we rarely stop to ask:

Where did Jesus get the charcoal?
Where did He get the fish?
Where did He get the bread?

John gives no explanation.
Because he already gave it
in chapter one:

"All things were made through Him,
and without Him was not anything made
that was made." (Jn 1:3)

In this quiet morning,
Jesus revealed His identity again.

The catch proved
His authority over nature.
The fire, fish, and bread proved
His authority to create from nothing.

The risen Jesus showed them-
He is not only Savior,
but God.
