You May Not Know This About Jesus: He Received Worship in a Scandalous Way

"As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them." Luke 7:38–39

She wasn't invited.
She wasn't welcome.
But she came anyway—past the whispers, past the shame.

A woman with a shattered story walked into an all-men's dinner, past the Pharisee who withheld honor from Jesus—no kiss, no water, no oil.
She gave Him tears, perfume, and kisses.

She knelt and washed His feet with her tears—kissed them with her lips.
She dried His feet with her hair—kissed them with her lips.
She anointed His feet with her perfume—kissed them with her lips.
Her love was urgent.
No fear could harness it.
No shame could silence it.
No scorn could stop it.

She poured out her past, her shame, her heart, her soul.
She offered herself.
Her worship.

No sinner touched a rabbi.
No woman let down her hair.
No guest interrupted a banquet.
Yet she did all three.

And Jesus didn't flinch.
He didn't recoil.
He let her love speak through tears, kisses, and perfume—and He called it holy.

You may not know this about Jesus: He receives worship others reject.
What the Pharisee despised, He welcomed.
What the crowd whispered against, He defended.
He turned scandal into sacred.

She overcame fear.
She ignored the sneers.
She silenced shame.
Because one voice was louder than them all.
The voice that said, "You are forgiven."
The voice that called her loved.
The voice that crowned her with honor.

Her love for Jesus rose from that voice.
The voice that drowned out every other sound.

Those who know they've been forgiven much… love much.
That's why her worship mattered.
That's why Jesus received it.
And that's why the story still speaks.

No rebuke.
No recoil.
Only forgiveness.
Only love.
